Buriti joined Whirika in September 2025, bringing extensive experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies, and project management. Skilled in energy auditing, efficiency programs, renewable systems, and analytical problem-solving, he has worked across the Pacific leading transformative energy projects - including serving as CEO of Kiribati Green Energy Solutions.

Over the past five years, Buriti has delivered rural electrification initiatives and energy efficiency programs throughout the Pacific, improving access to clean energy and reducing carbon emissions for both urban and rural communities. His leadership has created tangible benefits, from improved living standards to measurable energy savings.

Passionate about making a difference through sustainable energy, he joined Whirika to help New Zealand communities achieve their energy savings and carbon emission targets, and to promote the adoption of energy efficiency and renewable technologies.

Outside of work, Buriti is an avid learner of languages and cultures - and a football enthusiast!

  • BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering, (2017), National Chiao Tung University

  • Certificate in Energy Efficiency and Conservation (A), (2018), Kitakyushu Institute of Technology.
