Chris joined Whirika in 2021, bringing with him over a decade of geospatial experience spanning work with landowners, local government, small businesses, and the tertiary education sector.
In 2024, his role evolved to include the management of large-scale restoration projects, with a particular focus on carbon sequestration.
Driven by a passion for innovative, practical solutions to environmental challenges, Chris thrives on the variety of projects he contributes to at Whirika. Some of his varied work includes: leading a transitional forestry initiative in the Hunua Ranges; overseeing a portfolio of native afforestation projects across New Zealandās high country; and mapping vegetation in an Otago catchment using LiDAR and multispectral satellite imagery.
Outside of work, Chris enjoys exploring the mountains of southern New Zealand, spending quality time with his family, and playing guitar.
